In June 2017 our specialists installed Combined Mechanical Treatment Unit M-Combi at the local WWTP in Portland (OR, USA).
Our client has given our technical specialist non-standard task. The company specializes in the processing of sewage treatment products of enterprises in which the effluents contain cooking oil and grease. In other words, there are lot of fat and leftovers of food in the wastewater. Taking it into account, client needs efficient preliminary treatment including fine screening of wastewater, washing and dewatering of screenings, grit separation and FOG removal.
ESMIL specialists have proposed a Combined Mechanical Treatment Unit M-Combi-100, based on fine screen module combined with aerated grit chamber. This equipment has such advantages as:
- Compactness. In one equipment we have complex mechanical treatment process of all stages: fine screens, aerated grit chamber, grease separator, unit for washing and compaction of waste and grit. The combination of all these functions in one equipment makes it possible to substantially reduce the capital expenditures for the construction of treatment facilities;
- Durability. Equipment is made of stainless steel AISI 304, which ensures its durability;
- Automation. The equipment is fully automated, that makes it possible to use it in the most efficient way;
- Washing of waste and grit allows to preserve organic compounds in wastewater. It is assistance for further biological treatment process.
Effective preliminary wastewater treatment is important for correct operation of the equipment at the following treatment stages. Wastewater enter to the screw screen RVO installed in the Treatment Unit. This stage is intended for the medium and fine waste solids separation with their subsequent flushing, compacting and transporting into a waste bin. After the preliminary treatment stage, wastewater flow into the aerated grit chamber. Steam aeration in grit chamber tank creates a hot circulating fluid flow, which improves grit washing and sedimentation. Sediment grit is transported by means of horizontal and inclined conveyors to the storage chamber. Cleaned wastewater is disposed from the unit through an overflow weir.
The use of this equipment allows to achieve high efficiency wastewater treatment by waste solids separation as well as organic pollutions removal. It is important for proper operation of the equipment in subsequent treatment stages.
Start-up of Combined Mechanical Treatment Unit M-Combi-100 in Portland was successful.
