The new company combines the extensive experience of ESMIL and the powerful production base of Ekoton, which strengthened the company’s capacity to produce high-tech and reliable equipment to meet the highest industry standards and customer-specific needs.

Historically ESMIL UK was a renowned and well-recognised company in the development of the equipment for niche wastewater treatment industries. Esmil was founded in the UK in 1946 and subsequently evolved in the 1980s into a world leader in water and wastewater treatment systems and equipment, headquartered in the Netherlands and employing hundreds of employees worldwide. Many types of equipment and technologies designed or developed by ESMIL are classed as industry standards today, including Dissolved Air Flotation, sedimentation and filtration systems.

In the 1990s, the company diverted its focus mainly to research and development, and the advancement of future technologies, such as wastewater treatment through reverse osmosis membrane filtration. ESMIL became the system solutions provider, while the equipment design and the component supply by Esmil, and the manufacture were carried out in collaboration with partners.

Over the next 20 years, ESMIL successfully developed solutions and equipment for complex industrial wastewater such as MDF factory wastewater treatment and water recovery, Oily waste and Produced water treatment from the Oil & Gas Industry, Organic acid separation from Petrochem complex, Digestate treatment from the biogas plants etc.

At the same time, in 1995, the Ekoton company was founded in Ukraine. Its main activity is the manufacturing of equipment for large municipal wastewater treatment plants and industrial enterprises.

The company manufactures the equipment used in most of the water and wastewater treatment plants such as sludge dewatering, mechanical screens, grit chambers, clarifiers, flotation units and aeration systems.

In the 2010s, the company entered the global market by opening its own production plants in Poland and the USA. Rapidly developing company produces hundreds of components for sewage treatment plants every year. Thousands of cities and enterprises in Europe, North America and Asia, are Ekoton’s customers. The manufacturing process involves the use of the most advanced robotic equipment, as well as deep quality control procedures.

In 2016, Ekoton expanded its presence in North America by opening a manufacturing facility in Akron, Ohio. Today Esmil Corp. manufactures equipment in the USA in compliance with BABA program policy, American Steel policy , and American Welding Society.
