Introduction
The Covington Wastewater Treatment Plant recently undertook a series of upgrades to enhance its sludge processing capacity. Faced with the growing demand for more efficient dewatering of aerobically digested waste activated sludge (WAS), the facility sought a solution that could not only meet their current operational needs but also accommodate future growth. Partnering with Esmil, the plant deployed a Multi-Disk Screw Press system, designed specifically to handle both present and future throughput requirements, ensuring long-term operational efficiency and flexibility.

Esmil Corp. specialists, considering the potential future increase in the treatment plant’s capacity, initially recommended the Multi-Disk Screw Press MDQ-401 model as the best fit for dewatering. However, with future capacity increases in mind, Esmil reserved an additional spot for an extra drum, evolving the configuration into the MDQ-402(1) CLD. This forward-thinking design ensures that all necessary electrical and mechanical provisions are already in place, allowing for an easy upgrade when the need arises.
